چکیده

A new technique for the design of finite impulse response (FIR) filters for decimation and interpolation in multi rate systems is presented. With this technique, FIR preand postfilters that jointly minimize a frequency-weighted mean-square (MS) error between the original and reconstructed signals can be designed. Unlike most other FIR filter design methods, there is no need for ideal filter prototypes: the optimal pre-postfilter pair is determined from the signal and noise spectra and the upand down-sampling factors. Some examples of image and speech processing show that the MS-optimal filter pair leads to typical SNR improvements of 2-6 dB, in comparison to other commonly used filters. Statistically Optimum Pre- and Postfiltering in Quantization - Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on

We consider the optimization of preand postfilters surrounding a quantization system. The goal is to optimize the filters such that the mean square error is minimized under the key constraint that the quantization noise variance is directly proportional to the variance of the quantization system input. Unlike some previous work, the postfilter is not restricted to be the inverse of the prefilte...

Optimization of Random Sample Size in Progressively Type II Censoring based on Cost Criterion

So far censored samples have been studied by many researchers. One of the most important methods of censoring is progressively type II censoring. An interesting issue in the discussion of censoring is determination of the optimal sample size. Various factors are influential in determining the appropriate sample size, the most important of which is the sampling cost criterion. In this paper, ass...

Simultaneous high hydrogen content-synthesis gas production and in-situ CO2 removal via sorption-enhanced reaction process: modeling, sensitivity analysis and multi-objective optimization using NSGA-II algorithm

The main focus of this study is improvement of the steam-methane reforming (SMR) process by in-situ CO2 removal to produce high hydrogen content synthesis gas. Sorption-enhanced (SE) concept is applied to improve process performance. In the proposed structure, the solid phase CO2 adsorbents and pre-reformed gas stream are introduced to a gas-flowing solids-fixed bed reactor (GFSFBR). One dimens...

A Method for Pre-Calibration of DI Diesel Engine Emissions and Performance Using Neural Network and Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm

Diesel engine emission standards are being more stringent as it gains more publicity in industry and transportation. Hence, designers have to suggest new controlling strategies which result in small amounts of emissions and a reasonable fuel economy. To achieve such a target, multi-objective optimization methodology is a good approach inasmuch as several types of ...
